Today we're launching LifeBus Learning β three free interactive simulators that teach high schoolers what actually happens when you get a paycheck, build a budget, and take on credit. No quizzes. No lectures. Students click through real scenarios and see the consequences in real time. If you're an educator, an outreach contact, or a parent trying to figure out why this matters, here's the full story.
What LifeBus Learning is
LifeBus Learning is a set of three short interactive simulators that walk students through the financial decisions they'll face in their first year out of high school. Each module takes 15β20 minutes. There are no student accounts, no logins, no data collection. Just a link you share and a browser tab they open.
Here's what's in each module today:
- Your First Paycheck β Enter a job and a salary, see how taxes, FICA, and benefit deductions shrink your gross pay into actual take-home. Watch every line item update in real time.
- Your First Budget β Plug in your take-home pay and allocate across rent, groceries, transportation, phone, savings, and everything else. The simulator shows you when you're over budget and what's left over.
- Credit Score 101 β Make the choices a 20-year-old actually gets handed (miss a payment? max out a card? pay only the minimum?) and see your FICO score move. See the score, see the trade-off.

Why we built it
We built LifeBus Learning because two things happened at the same time. First, Ohio's HB 89 and HB 96 financial literacy mandate went into full effect for the Class of 2026 β every Ohio high school student now has to complete a half-credit personal finance course to graduate. Schools need real, usable content, not more textbooks.
Second, in our conversations with Ohio educators, a pattern kept coming up: students were checking their first paycheck, seeing that take-home was several hundred dollars less than they expected, and overdrawing their bank account before payday. That's the paycheck-overdraft problem. It's not a knowledge problem β students can recite the tax brackets. It's a consequence problem. They haven't seen the math play out with their own numbers.
LifeBus Learning fixes that. Every simulator plugs the student's real inputs into the same formulas a payroll system uses. The numbers on screen are exactly the numbers that will land in their bank account.
What's inside
Every module is built to be used inside an existing personal finance or financial literacy course β not as a replacement for your curriculum. Most educators use them as in-class activities, homework, or independent study. Here's the full lineup:
- Your First Paycheck β Earning income, taxes, payroll deductions, take-home pay.
- Your First Budget β Monthly allocations, fixed vs. variable costs, savings targets, balance tracking.
- Credit Score 101 β FICO score mechanics, payment history, utilization, minimum payment traps.
For press, outreach, and education partners: LifeBus Learning is now live at lifebus-learning.polsia.app. The Ohio regulatory deep-dive is at /blog/ohio-financial-literacy-mandate β that's the canonical link for HB 89/96 framing. The launch announcement you're reading is the canonical link for the platform itself.
